Bob Piper's Corner - February 15, 1987

February 15, 1987
Left here at 2 p.m. in George’s car with myself up front and Charles Prior in the back. Seat belts secured and we were off. Drove more or less straight north, driving about one hundred miles. We went to Motor first. Just a new church there as all else is gone. Then through Ackworth, Beech, Palmyra, Melcher and Newbern. Skirted Milo, Lacona, Pleasantville, Dallas and Williamson. We were pleased to see more and more cattle on feed. Dave Sinclair, a buyer for Russell Sales Company, confirmed this. He said they are out there again. Today was clear as crystal and we could see for miles. The Russell Sales Company serves a meal at noon on Monday, the day of their weekly sale. Anyone can eat there, but 99 per cent are hungry stockmen. Look at this menu: roast beef of the best quality, all you can eat, mashed potatoes, brown gravy and a slab of pie. The words we discussed today were stringent, strident, and semester. People discussed were Emile Zapato, an author, and our own unpredictable, lovely, different, Sara.

Three mice died and went to heaven. Two or three days later the good angel asked how they were getting along. They said fine in most ways, but heaven was so large they had trouble getting around. The good angel put them on roller skates. A little later a cat died and came to heaven. In a few days the good angel asked the cat how he was getting along. The cat said fine in every way and he really loved those meals on wheels.
